How much better can it get to have a fantastic couple on a beautiful 70 degree January day!? Laura and James are just fun to work with! Normally an engagement session will last about an hour, but not for these two. We walked around for two hours, and I got the feeling they would have keep going too. They were just happy to be together and enjoying the day.
The first four photos are the holga, which I have to to say I love! So much fun to mix it up a bit.
Thanks guys for a fabulous afternoon in downtown Denver. I can’t wait to see you all dressed up in just a couple short months!
Just when you think you’ll have a nice uneventful month, you have more things to do now then in the middle of wedding season. January has been so busy. I have tons of things to post, which is turning out to be difficult to find the time to post. But I digress. Cody, my lovely husband bought me a holga for Christmas. From first glance you might think what on earth would anyone want a plastic camera with only two options of F-stop?! Well that’s just the beauty of it, you never know what your going to get. And it’s film, so there that beautiful nostalgia too. I love my holga. I’m still learning the focus part. You really have to pay attention to where you are in relation to the subject. But if it’s not in perfect focus who cares!? It’s a holga!
A holga can give even the most ordinary thing such a mystical quality.
We spent a week with my parents in Minnesota, and while we were there, I quickly did a mini family portrait. The Allstots’ are actually my cousins, so Christmas day we ran outside. Living in Colorado, I’ve kinda forgotten how cold it really is in Minnesota. I’m thinking oh it’s not that bad….well….we could barely handle 10 minutes. And that was painful! But they ran and played like crazy for 10 quick COLD minutes. Brave souls.
I think Stacy is the instigator here.
This is the last photo taken, and everyone’s face says, ‘seriously are we done, I can’t feel my face anymore!’
The last of the flowers from summer have wilted and gone. Oh I miss flowering plants in the winter. At least there’s a fresh blanket of snow on the ground to make everything feel like Christmas.
Happy Holidays everyone!
Cody’s probably not going to like that I’m posting this photo, but I really love it. (poor guy has his picture taken more times then he ever thought possible.) The lighting was so dramatic, and totally unintentional really. It’s just the light in the kitchen reflecting off the cabinet. I think he looks pretty good with a beard too.
Not that I have anything better to do then go through old photos, but I found this one. I just love film has so much character, without even trying. Sure you can add texture and what not in Photoshop, but is it really the same? Personally, not even close, not even in the same league. I love the authenticity of film, the edge it gives to something.
I’d love to hear other opinions though. How about the techie people!? Nate I know you have a opinion on this.
Sarah and Andy had a beautiful November wedding at Red Rocks. You couldn’t have asked for better weather or a sweeter couple. Sarah called just three weeks ago to photography her wedding. They decided a bit spur of the moment to tie the knot, but you couldn’t tell. Everybody was excited to be there and Sarah and Andy had stars in their eyes. Seriously I can’t tell you how cute these two are. I love that their wedding had none of the big hoop la of a typical wedding, just a couple deeply in love and all their friends and family.
Congrats Sarah and Andy! And thank you for sharing your day with me!
