Colfax Cruise

December 31, 2007

About a month ago a few other photographers and I went along Colfax and took photos.  It was an absolutely freezing cold day.  It was impossible for me to keep my fingers warm, but I still managed to take a few photos.  Andrew Schaefer and I decided to pair up together.  I think it’s so awesome that two people can take the same path and come out with completely different photos. (metaphor for life perhaps?) And every time you go along Colfax you see something you didn’t before.  Anyway here’s a few shots from the day.

A Year in Review

December 20, 2007

As it gets closer and closer to the end of the year I start to think about what kind of year it’s been.  Well 2007 was definitely less eventful then 2006, but a more quiet year is a blessing.  What has happened is how photography has changed my life, my attitude and out look.  Before it had been something I enjoyed, a hobby really.  And then I met Julie and everything changed.  I find myself almost obsessing over photography, trying desperate to learn everything I can.  I have met the most creative and fun loving people thru photography too.   Architects are great and I have some really great friends, including my husband that are architects.  But those photographers, they are insane!  Take for example the last excursion I did, the Colfax Cruise (photos soon).  How many people can look at Colfax and see literally tons of things to photograph?  These people can, and I’ve really learned to stop and smell the roses, and really look at the world in a whole new prospective.  And I love it!  I’m truly excited for 2008 and all it holds in store.  If it was half as excited as 2007 I can’t wait!

For your viewing pleasure I’ve chosen my favorite wedding photos of this year.  As I was going thru them I kept going I love this one, and this one, and this one, till I had 18 photos.  That’s when I said enough was probably enough. So sit back and relax, this is a long post.  In no particular order….

Film vs Digital

December 20, 2007

Normally I wouldn’t even go here, but I just have too.  During our renovation I took film photos of all the progress.  The favorite lens I have is for my film camera, a 10-24mm 2.8.  So I got 6 rolls of 36 exposure film and shot away for 8 weeks.  We were so crazy busy trying to get the house ready to move into, I never got anything developed till after we were done.  I go to pick up the film and I’m told ALL the frames are way under exposed.  My first thought is ‘how did I screw this up!?’  After thinking and go thru the photos over and over, I discovered it wasn’t me it was the film.  I had a bad batch of film.  The freak’n film was BAD!!!!!  All the roles were bad and only about 40% of the photos I took even came close to being exposed right.  The ones that did have a sort of 1970’s Polaroid quality.   So the film vs digital aspect of this post is, digital gives you instant results and tells you right then and there if something is drastically wrong!  Oh the instant gratification of digital!

Here’s a few 1970’s shots of our house pre-renovation 31.jpg51.jpg61.jpg71.jpg81.jpg
