Lawson Family

The Lawson’s are another FANTASTIC family!  Easy and fun loving!  And how cute is their little one! Total Baby Gap material.  I can’t say enough about how much I love doing family portraits.  It’s so wonderful to see a couple totally in love, not only with each other, but the apple of their eye too!  Annie, Darren you were so fantastic, and just a pleasure to work with!

lack of clarity

November 2, 2008 by rachaelgracephotography

I find that sometimes it is difficult to see the clarity in life, or an image for that matter.  It sometimes feels like everything is a blur and I can’t seem to focus on anything.   Why is it that we want to be busy when we’re bored and have nothing to do (yea do you remember the last time that happened?) and then when we’re running around struggling to focus on anything we long for nothing but to have nothing to do.

In truth the photo above was actually taken in very low light (no flash) and with a few (who’s counting) glasses of wine in me.  But in the last few weeks I’ve felt like this.  1800 miles in 4 days probably has nothing to do with that.    My wish is that if you feel like this to stop and try to get into the moment, what’s really happening RIGHT now.  I wouldn’t trade this moment for anything, it is prefect, it is life.

heavy heart

October 22, 2008 by rachaelgracephotography

Today I have a heavy heart.  My Grandpa past away today at the age of 87.  He and my grandma lived next door to us all of my childhood.  I remember going over to see them when my mom was tired of us running around and we’d play games.  And I’m pretty sure Grandpa was the first person to give me a drink of beer.

He had the ‘miller’ sense of humor.  (Miller is my maiden name).  Once when I went to visit him recently.  He leaned forward in his chair with a sly little grinn on his face and says, ‘Rachael guess what I did?!’  He blinks a few times and his smile grows larger.  I couldn’t help bust out laughing and say ‘Grandpa WHY did you shave your eye brows off!?’  ‘Because they were in the way!’  Of course, what other reason could there be?  Ok Grandpa.

Another time he smiles his big grin at me again and says ‘Guess what I did?’  Oh Grandpa, I can’t image.  ‘I’ve been brushing my teeth with Ivory soap, it makes my teeth white and the ladies like white teeth!’  Of course they do!  Grandpa always tried to keep the ladies on their toes.  ALWAYS.

You may think he’s a little off his rocker, but that was Grandpa and that’s just his way of making things livily.  A way that makes very sad that I won’t be able to hear anymore.

So as I wipe away my tears, here’s to you Grandpa!  I hope Grandma likes your pearly whites and shaved eye brows as much as I do!  I love you and you will be greatly missed!

Kristen and Troy

Blending a family is such a hard thing, but Krista and Troy make it look so easy.  As the second marriage for both of them they wanted nothing to do with the ‘big white wedding’.  They just wanted to have their close friends and family share a beautiful intimate ceremony followed by cake.  Who can forget the cake?  And their kids are so fun, and FULL of personality!  I think they are truly happy their parents found that special someone and are so very happy together.

Congrats to a beautiful new family!

Ferdig Family

I LOVE doing family shoots!  Especially with a family like the Ferdig’s!  And Ella, well she’s just sooo darn cute!

They made it so easy.  And Ella is just a happy little girl who’s always on the move.  I can’t wait to see her get bigger!  She’s going to be gorgeous with those curls, just like her momma!

Look at these two! For a second I thought I was doing an engagement shoot.  Very sweet.

If all the married people in the world had half as much passion as these two, no one would ever get divorced.  They felt passion with all their being.  Deep breath, eyes closed, sigh, whole body…Passion.  I felt like I needed a cold shower after watching these two!  Such an unbelievable couple, sweet and loving.

Check out Julie’s blog for more of these two beautiful people.

This girl cracks me up!

PASSION!

Julie and I headed up to Veil a few weeks ago for Amy and John’s wedding at the Donovan Pavilion.  Any and John are a very adventurous couple.  They are the perfect Colorado couple, including a pair of chocolate labs.

So if you haven’t guessed I’ve been pretty busy lately.  I am way way WAY behind on blogging.  There are probably a half dozen Julie weddings, 4 Kevin weddings (they finally had there baby!) and a few personal stuff to yet to blog.  So hopefully I’ll be blogging a lot in the next few weeks.

Julia and Matt was another fantastic wedding with Julie on probably the COLDEST day ever in August.  I think the high that day was 40.
