stacy and matt [07.26.08]

July 29, 2008

I absolutely adore this family! Stacy’s parents invited Cody and I up to Lyons to their home about month ago just so we could see the ceremony site and get to know everyone. She even made an amazing dinner for us. They made it so easy to be yourself and just have fun. The day of the wedding was definitely no different. I have so many favorites from this wedding it was hard just to narrow it down to these!

Stacy and Matt, you guys are so sweet and you truly make my job a joy to do!

I was in tears after this one. Stacy’s brother is leaving for Iraq soon, so Stacy dedicated a song to him. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the place.

One Light

July 21, 2008

Zack Arias, the amazing photographer, teacher, and inspiration that he is did a workshop in Boulder last Thursday. I however delayed signing up for it and didn’t make the cut. But I know the hostess and just a few days before she called me frantically hoping that I would come be the model, because she couldn’t find one. In exchange for standing in front of the camera I could have all the benefits of being at the workshop for free! Ah YEA ya think I said no to that!? So I was a model for a day. Mind everyone I’ve never had any experience modeling in my life and my ’sexy’ face looks more like I have to pee. (long story there). But how can you pass up an opportunity like that? Sadly I don’t have any photos to share, but be sure to check out Zack’s blog.

The One Light Workshop was amazing! Zack knows so much about light and how to manipulate light to do what he wants. A phrase he said during the workshop was ‘making darkness with light’. I think that says exactly what this work shop was about.

An Adventure

July 21, 2008

I’ve come to the conclusion that camping is ALWAYS an adventure. If you have a walk-in camp site booked, it is suggested that you get there before dark. It’s much easier to find the camp site. We however, thought why take the easy route, let’s get there after dark!  Our friends Alan and Erica and us went camping way up in the mountains last weekend. It was a ton of fun, I personally froze my butt off at night when the temp dipped below 35 degrees. Another suggestion, if you’re planning on camping in the mountains, any time of year, have a sleeping bag rated to go below 30. Why do I think of these things AFTER the fact?

I decided to take film and my K1000 for fun, instead of the big digital. I love that little camera. It is so light and the 50mm/1.4 lens is soooooo amazing. I just wish I could use that lens on my digital. I think for all personal photos I’m taking film from now on. I loved not having to edit these! I have enough editing to deal with! The film I used was fujifilm. I love this film, the colors are so creamy and soft! The first couple I took have an almost 1970’s feel to them because the camera was set to 400 ISO and the film was 200, opps. But I love the outcome of that opps. You can’t get that out of a digital, at least not without a lot of photoshop.

The four crazies that took an adventure.

casey and jeff [part two]

July 11, 2008

I’ve been editing Casey and Jeff photos for a couple of hours now and I’ve found a few more favorites. I was just so excited when I came across these I decided to share. I love going thru all the photos and finding the unexpected photos. Maybe you weren’t trying to get that out come, but damn if the out come isn’t even better then what was in your head! Almost like the rush of photo slowing appearing from beneath it’s watery bath of chemicals….almost.

And my favorite thus far.

Casey and Jeff

July 2, 2008

This fantastic wedding was at the Tapestry House. I adore this couple. Casey is so laid back, not ever a little lip gloss on her dress could faze her. And in Jeff’s own words, ‘how did a guy like me ever get a girl like her?’ Well Jeff I think you must have something going for you, because can’t take her eyes off you. And she was all smiles and giggles.

You both were amazing to work with and you make my job so easy. Thank you for letting me be a part of your spectacular day!

They couldn’t take their eyes off each other the entire ceremony.
