T-minus two days until we move into our little project! I’m a mix of excitement, nerves and pure panic. I guess the house IS livable, just not quite where I’d hope we’d be at this point. We finally got the toilet in two days ago, so yea we don’t have to pee at the park anymore! It was only about 24 hours too late for my parents to marvel in that beautiful luxury. Sorry Mom. The last eight weeks have been the longest and shortest weeks of my life thus far. It sounds like an oxymoron, but that’s how it’s felt. At times I thought we would NEVER be done, or the house would NEVER be clean enough to cook food. Well it’s definitely cleaner then a even just a few days ago, but it’s still not to MY personal standard. And we’ll probably never be really done with this house till we sell it.
I’ve tried to document the process, but being covered in 100 year old insulation, dry wall dust and paint hasn’t made me want to bring my camera out. But I did get some shots off here and there, and a lot more recently. Just looking back a the photos taken just a couple of weeks ago make me marvel at how far we’ve come. We really have accomplished a lot for 8 weeks.
This photo was taken about 4 weeks ago and the hole in the floor is our bathroom floor. The stair case on the left is gone too. We put all new floor joist under the bathroom and all new ceiling joists in the front bedroom. The house has all new wiring thru out and all new plumbing. A new high efficiency furnace, new ceilings in all but one room and a brand spank’n new bathroom down to the joists. And my favorite feature, the new bamboo floors! More photos to come.
